The Norwegian forest cats have a fur, in two layers, and warm and impressing in its abundance. This helped to be enough the animals, and get over snow-rich winters.

The cat has a wide awake view, in which still much wildness is, a triangular head with straight profile and elegant ears with lynx tufts.

They are intelligent and clever, but very pigheaded, if they want to reach somewhat. Norwegian forest cats are to be associated well with other cats and even dogs and them love children, also small, before whom other races rather look for width.

Health - a matter of course?

That would be nice, of course, but the reality is often very different.

Just as we can not guarantee our children that they are 100% healthy, nor is it possible for breeders in cats. A health guarantee for the whole (cat) life can not be given by a breeder.

But some checkups are possible and should be done; in the sense of the kittens we expect from our parent animals.

We care about the health of our animals very much. For us, this means annually presenting the animals to the veterinarian for routine check-ups, carrying out the necessary booster vaccinations and having a blood count done. Also on hereditary diseases, as far as possible, we have our animals examined.

An experienced cardiologist should take a look at the heart. Why not the pet doctor - surely he can? If you have a certain illness yourself, go to a specialist who can make a reliable diagnosis. We think so with our cats. A recommended cardiologist has acquired the appropriate knowledge through additional training, continues to educate himself regularly and attaches importance to exchanging views with colleagues in the same field. In addition, he is much more experienced in recognizing heart problems than his colleague in the practice of small animals by the regular use of his learned special knowledge. We test our cats for HCM, a hereditary heart disease. We can only appeal to the breeders to face this problem and have their animals tested. The test by means of echocardiography with a certified cardiologist is now possible throughout Germany.
